The full experiment flow OVERVIEW

The full journey from registering an experiment and recruiting participants to completion.
See what the researcher and participant each need to do at every step.
Step 1 · Researcher
Register the experiment
Enter the title, description, reward, eligibility criteria, and screening, then submit for registration.
→
Step 2 · Participant
Apply
Participants check the criteria in the listing and apply. If screening exists, they submit their answers.
→
Step 3 · Researcher
Approve participation
Review screening answers and profiles in the applicant list, then approve or reject. Recruitment closes automatically when quotas fill.
↓
Step 4 · Participant
Participate
After approval, they run the experiment via an external link or on the platform, then press submit when done.
→
Step 5 · Researcher
Review the data & approve
Check the submitted data and approve. Careless participation can be rejected (rejections are recorded).
→
Step 6 · Automatic
Reward paid by the terms you set
The reward is paid to the participant's points immediately on approval. Longitudinal studies pay per approved session.

Experiment types TYPES

Online (external link)
Enter a URL from an external platform such as Qualtrics, jsPsych, or Gorilla. Participants click the link to participate.
On-platform experiment
Connect code built with the experiment builder. Participants run the experiment right on the platform and data is collected automatically.
In-person
Experiments requiring a visit to a lab or school. Enter the location and schedule, then coordinate with participants.
Longitudinal (multi-session)
Research requiring 2+ repeated sessions. Rewards, unlock conditions, and design can be set per session.
Mix and match: Each session of a longitudinal study can be online or in-person. E.g., session 1 online survey → session 2 in-person lab visit.

All-session completion bonus

IRB-friendly design: After the researcher reviews the submitted data and approves, the reward is paid by the terms you set. Careless participation can be rejected, in which case no reward is paid.
Mid-study withdrawal: If a participant withdraws, no reward is paid. In longitudinal studies, only completed sessions are rewarded.

Experiment builder TOOL

What is the experiment builder?
A tool that turns your experiment procedure into a web-based task. Build experiments right on the platform without external tools (Qualtrics, Gorilla, etc.), test them in the preview, and even design the results report format.
This feature is an implementation tool that converts your experiment procedure into code. Ethical responsibility — study design and IRB approval — rests entirely with the researcher.
1
Describe your procedure in the chat
Click "Experiment builder" in the top menu.
Describe your experiment in detail in the left chat panel.
E.g., "Stroop task, 30 trials, F key congruent, J key incongruent, with feedback"
The more specific you are about stimuli, response keys, trial counts, and feedback, the more accurate the implementation.
2
Test it yourself in the preview
Once the code is generated, it runs immediately in the experiment preview on the right.
Run through it like a participant, and type follow-up requests in the chat if changes are needed.
E.g., "Increase to 50 trials", "Change the fixation duration to 500ms"
Your test data is saved automatically when the run finishes.
3
Check and refine the results report
After test-running, check the auto-generated report in the Results report tab.
You can verify your test data actually flows into the report.
The report can also be edited via chat.
E.g., "Add a chart comparing mean reaction time by condition"
The same report format is later applied to the full participant dataset.
4
Save the final design and connect it to a registration
When satisfied, save the design with the "Finalize & save" button.
Click "Register experiment" in the saved designs list to open the registration form.
Once registered, participants can run the experiment right on the platform.
5
Data is collected automatically → check the results report
When participants finish, reaction times, accuracy, and more are saved automatically.
See the aggregated report under Experiment details → Results report.
Real participant data is injected into the report format you designed.
Raw data can be downloaded as CSV.
Where drafts are stored: Builder drafts live in your browser's local storage. Switching browsers or clearing data can lose drafts. Always complete the experiment registration for finished designs.

Longitudinal studies (multi-session) LONGITUDINAL

1
Choose "longitudinal" as the format when registering
Set 2 or more sessions. Each session independently specifies online/in-person, duration, reward, and unlock conditions.
2
Choose how sessions unlock
Automatic: the next session opens N days after the previous one is completed.
Manual (researcher): you open the next session yourself after the previous one — useful when you want to check the data first.
3
Screening happens once
Longitudinal screening happens only at the start. Approved participants continue through later sessions.
Participants who drop out are paid for the sessions they completed.
4
Manual unlocking — click "Open session N" in the applicant page
When a participant finishes the previous session, an "Open session N" button appears in their row.
Clicking it opens their next session immediately and sends a notification.
Aspect Automatic unlock Manual unlock
When it opens N days after the previous session is done When the researcher clicks
Best for Studies needing a wash-out period between sessions Deciding whether to proceed after checking session 1 data quality
Notifications Sent automatically Sent automatically on unlock

Screening & quotas SCREENING

Screening (pre-questions)

Free-text or multiple-choice questions participants answer when applying.
You review the answers to decide approvals. Combining them with automatic qualification criteria makes management easier.

Quotas (composition limits)

Limit the number of recruits per characteristic such as gender, age group, or region. Once a quota fills, participants matching that condition can no longer apply.
Quota dimensionExample setup
Gender15 men / 15 women
Age group10 in their 20s / 10 in their 30s / 10 in their 40s
Region20 in the capital area / 10 elsewhere
Education, occupation, native language, etc.Up to 10 dimensions at once
Eligibility vs quotas: Eligibility criteria (age, vision, etc.) block ineligible participants from applying at all. Quotas allow applications but control the sample composition.

IRB & researcher obligations ETHICS

Important: The items below are both platform rules and legal obligations under the Korean Bioethics Act and Personal Information Protection Act. Violations can suspend your platform access.
✓
IRB approval
Human-subjects research requires approval from your institution's IRB. For exempt research, keep the exemption confirmation on file.
✓
Consent procedures
Participants must be informed in advance of the purpose, procedures, risks, benefits, and personal data handling, and give consent. Include these in your study description.
✓
Voluntary participation and the right to withdraw
Participants may withdraw at any time without penalty. Reducing rewards or leaving negative evaluations because of a withdrawal is prohibited.
✓
Personal data protection
Personal data you collect (including names and contact details) must be used only for research purposes. Destroy it per regulations when the study ends.
!
Avoid coercive compensation
Take care that excessively high rewards don't undermine voluntary participation. Use typical hourly wage levels as a reference.
!
Data storage and security
Collected data must be stored encrypted on secure servers. Anonymize before sharing externally.
✗
Prohibited
Research on minors without legal-guardian consent, deception studies without full debriefing, and using data beyond the stated collection purpose are strictly prohibited.
If you have questions or face a difficult ethical judgment, contact your institution's IRB or the platform operations team.

The online consent screen and IRB submissions

About Conveloq's online consent screen
Conveloq shows participants the 10-item consent screen required by Article 16(1) of the Bioethics Act (research purpose, risks, benefits, data protection and third-party provision, participation reward and injury compensation, right to withdraw, researcher contact, etc.), and consent records are stored electronically.

If your institution's IRB requires a written-consent waiver application and screenshots of the online consent screen for online research, you must submit those to your IRB yourself.

You can capture the consent screen with your browser's print function (Ctrl+P → Save as PDF).

Conveloq does not guarantee or handle written-consent waivers. Your institution's IRB makes the final decision.
